Mississippi Air Force Bases - Welcome to Keesler Air Force Base, located on the Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Mississippi! Like many bases in the United States, Keesler dates back to World War II, when it was established as an Army Air Corps station for basic training, technical flight crew training, and special flight training. The base again supported training establishments during the Korean War and began to shift from flight training to technology-based technical training during the Vietnam War. The base is still one of the air force's largest technical training wings.
The base is under the control of the Air Force Education and Training Command (AETC) and is home to the 81st Training Wing and 403rd Wing. It has an active workforce of around 7,000 people.

Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is the closest airport to Keesler AFB. Mobile Regional and New Orleans Airport are both one hour away, with New Orleans one hour west and Mobile one hour east.
When you move in, the Personal Property Processing Office (PPPO) takes care of shipping your household items. Whether you are moving Do It Yourself (DITY) or government moving with a moving company, PPPO will manage all aspects of your move and submit your reimbursement claim here.
Guards do 100% identity checks at every gate. All visitors must have a valid military ID or go to the Visitor Control Center to enter. Due to current COVID measures, please make sure to show your ID with barcode facing the guard so he can scan it without touching it. All staff stay check-in party in designated units. If you're arriving on the weekend or after hours, the official check-in point is Tyler House. Check-in at the White Gate Visitor Center is guided by a ranger. Contact your sponsor and report to your unit at the appointed time in the appropriate uniform. You must then submit your travel claim to PPPO and sign housing unless you live off-base. All new recruits receive a welcome briefing which is held monthly.

Engineering students arrive by plane or bus from Lackland AFB. All processing is done by the Student Personnel Center in the Levitow Building upon arrival.

Keesler AFB is located west of downtown Biloxi. Located between the communities of Gulfport, Biloxi and Ocean Springs. It's a very short drive from Biloxi (less than three miles). The base is surrounded by major highways, I-110 and Interstate 90, allowing fast travel from all directions.
This community of about 17,000 residents is about two miles east of Biloxi. Homes in the area start at around $189,000 for a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home. Rentals start at $555 for a one-bedroom unit.
The city of 45,000 is the center of Harrison County and the third largest city in the state. Located just three miles from the base, commuting is easy and popular with military families. The economy is based on seafood, gambling, and tourism, so it's a great city if you like gambling and a night on the town. Homes start at around $329,000 for a two-bed, two-bathroom, while rentals start at $625 for a one-bedroom unit.
With a population of 71,000, Mississippi's second largest city is only 15 miles from base. As well as an air base, there is also a significant naval presence, which makes it a very military-friendly city. Homes start at around $112,000 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and rents start at $555 for a one bedroom.

Since there are no DoD schools on base, students living on base will attend school in the Biloxi Public School District.

Typical Biloxi weather of the Deep South and Gulf Coast. Summers are long, hot and humid, while winters are cold and windy. Summer lows are in the low 70s while highs are in the 80s with very high humidity and a chance of rain from June to September. The lowest point fell in the 50's and the highest in the 70's. Winter is windy, a light breeze blows from the water. Lows in the mid-40s and highs in the mid-50s. Spring lows were in the 60s and highs in the 70s. You want good protection from rain and wind for most of the year, and expect lots of clouds. The water in the Gulf is very warm (80-85 degrees) in summer and up to 59 degrees in winter, so you'll need a wetsuit if you want to get in there.

The Gulf Coast's beaches are great for water sports and relaxation in the warmer months. There is very little surfing, but fishing is plentiful. The water is shallow, great for wading and for kids. The beach has fine white sand and beautiful blue water on a hot, sunny day. Take a leisurely stroll to the Biloxi Lighthouse or walk across the Biloxi Bay Bridge.
The biggest attractions around Biloxi are the casino resorts. Spend a night of fun gambling or shopping at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Beau Rivage Casino, or catch a baseball game at MGM Park, home of the Biloxi Shuckers. Musical performances and events can be seen at the Beau Rivage Theatre.
There are many options for traditional Cajun and French cuisine. Gulf Coast seafood and crab claws with fried prawns, this place is highly recommended.
